Graduate student scholarships: Find free money for grad school

The Barb and Ernie Corrick Forestry Scholarship is open to graduate and undergraduate students in the College of Forestry and Conservation who are working towards their degree and need financial assistance to complete the degree. If multiple candidates are identified, preference should go to a student whose long-term career goal includes working in industrial forestry.

The Bill Gabriel Avian Science Center Scholarship is open to graduate or undergraduate students at the University of Montana. Students must be volunteers, employees, conducting research, taking courses, or otherwise engaged with the Avian Science Center. Recipients must have been engaged for a minimum of one semester and plan to return in the following academic year.

The Arne J. Jacobsen Forestry Travel Endowment is open to graduate or undergraduate students in the College of Forestry and Conservation. Students must be enrolled in the Forest Management Department of the College of Forestry and Conservation (not including wildlife biology, range management, or environmental studies programs. Awards are to cover all expenses incurred by students who are involved in forestry field study programs.

The Alan and June Coates Forestry Management Scholarship supports undergraduate students in the Department of Forest Management or graduate students with an advisor in the Department of Forest Management according to the following guidelines: Students majoring in forestry who have financial need as determined by the Financial Aid Office or its equivalent in existence at the time of the award.

The John L. and Jeanne C. Hughes Scholarship will be awarded to undergraduate or graduate students studying the Liberal Arts. Please visit the scholarship's website or contact the Connecticut Community Foundation for more information.

The Marie Newton Sepia Memorial Scholarship will provide financial aid to a qualified graduate or doctorate student preparing for or currently working in careers related to brain safety and health or caring for families in times of need. Awards are based on community service, financial need, academic success, and application contents. Scholarships are awarded for one academic year. Two letters of recommendation dated within 12 months from teachers, professors, faculty advisors or employers must be submitted. The Ruth Ann Leever Music Scholarship will be awarded to students pursuing a degree in music or music education. Preference will be given to schools with a strong or renowned music program. Please visit the scholarship's website or contact the Connecticut Community Foundation for more information.

The Ruby Newhall Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to students who must be from a foreign country, pursuing a degree in the United States or Canada. The field of study must be of a nature that improves the quality of life for the community in their home country. Graduate and doctoral students may apply. Students must remain a full-time student for the duration of the scholarship. Awards are based on community service, financial need, academic success, and application contents. Two letters of recommendation dated within 12 months from teachers, professors, faculty advisors or employers must be submitted.
