The A Million Thanks Fund a Scholar Scholarship is available to those who must be a surviving child of a U.S. Military Service Member who lost their life on or after October 7, 2001, during the course of their active duty responsibilities while serving their country. Applicants must be enrolled or accepted at an eligible educational institution (college, university or accepted trade school) that meets federal accreditation standards. All applicants must submit proof of their enrollment in, or intention to enroll in and acceptance in, a course of study leading to the award of a degree or vocational certification at a post-secondary educational institution. A copy of an acceptance letter combined with a written affirmation of an intention to enroll, a current transcript or a current tuition invoice issued by the post-secondary educational institution in which the applicant is enrolled or intends to enroll will be adequate proof. All applicants must submit three letters of recommendations to AFCEF from individuals who are not members of the applicant's family. At least one recommendation must be from one of the applicant's teachers or professors. All applicants must submit a certified copy of the United States service record of their parent(s) or legal guardian(s). Applications are accepted twice a year: January 1 - March 31 and July 1 - October 15. Applications may also be submitted through email or mail.
