Eligibility
ACS Clinician Scientist Development Grant, with an application deadline in December, offers numerous awards of $135000 each.Description
The ACS Clinician Scientist Development Grant supports faculty with clinical responsibilities but without an independent research program to become independent investigators as clinician scientists. Clinician scientists are investigators licensed to provide clinical care and trained to conduct research. This grant is designed for individuals, trained primarily as clinicians, who seek to maintain clinical practice and conduct research while strengthening their capacity to conduct cancer research. During the award term, individuals are expected to have an active role in clinical care and acquire the research training, mentoring, and experience necessary for transitioning into a successful career as an independent investigator. In addition to the research project itself, the activities during the award period must be designed to develop the necessary knowledge and skills in relevant areas through mentoring and training such as course work, lectures, seminars, self-directed learning, or workshops. Those who may apply are those who hold a doctoral degree (e.g., MD, MD/PhD, DO, DDS, DNP, DSW, PharmD, PhD, PsyD, DVM), or terminal degree for their field, with an active license (or equivalent certification for their field) to provide clinical care; and those who must be a current full-time faculty member, who can provide justification to support the need for mentoring. Applicants must provide the name, title, and email address of three persons, other than their proposed mentors, who can critically appraise their qualifications. Also provide this contact information on ProposalCentral so that they can access the site to upload their letters. Please visit the award's website or contact the American Cancer Society, Inc. for more information.Explore more scholarships
