Description

The Colonel Kathleen Swacina Scholarship was created to honor Col. Kathleen Swacina, USA (Ret.), her distinguished military career, and her long-standing dedication to AFCEA. This scholarship recognizes one outstanding college student who demonstrates strong potential in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Applicants must meet at least one of the following: currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces or enrolled in an ROTC program; an honorably discharged veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces; or a direct descendant of an AFCEA member or an honorably discharged U.S. service member. Applicants must be enrolled at an accredited college or university, including community colleges. Undergraduate students must be at a sophomore or junior level and community college students must have completed at least one semester. Graduate students must have completed a minimum of two courses and must not be graduating in the current academic year. Applicants must submit two letters of recommendation, at least one of which must be a professor in the student's STEM major field of study. Recommenders must send their letters in PDF format via email to AFCEA.
