Description

The Constance McCullough International Research Grant is a grant given biennially to encourage international professional development activities and to assist in the investigation of reading-related problems in countries outside of the United States and Canada. The grant aims to support advocacy, professional development, and emerging global issues. Applicants' proposed research must be working toward one of the following goals: (1) Advocacy: Promoting universal access to literacy and providing leadership in support of adequate funding for literacy programs; (2) Professional Development: Enhancing and improving professional development of literacy educators - professional development that supports programs and processes in response to expressed needs and that responds quickly to identify professional needs; (3) Emerging Global Issues: Identifying and providing leadership on emerging globally significant literacy issues such as access to primary education for all, access to current materials, and assessment of literacy levels. To be eligible, all applicants, including co-applicants, must be ILA members in good standing and maintain active membership through June 30, 2026. A research description and reference list must be submitted as one document, preferably a PDF. Budget information detailing anticipated expenses is also required.
