Deni & June Uejima Memorial Scholarship, with an application deadline in March, offers numerous awards that vary in amount.

Description

The Deni & June Uejima Memorial Scholarship was established by the Uejimas, who were very committed to the Japanese American community. They bequeathed this endowment to reach out to and support the community's young leaders. This scholarship will be awarded to entering freshman students. Every applicant must be an active National JACL member. JACL membership is open to everyone of any ethnic background. Applicants must be planning to attend a college, university, trade school, business school, or any other institution of higher learning within the United States. Students deferring enrollment will not qualify for the scholarship program. Entering freshman applicants must be high school seniors. Applicants must submit one letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, school administrator, employer, coach, or community leader.
