Dr. Joseph L. Henry Scholarship

Description

The Dr. Joseph L. Henry Scholarship recognizes dental students who reflect Dr. Henry's values of excellence, determination, leadership, and service. Each year, up to four incoming first-year (D1) dental students are selected to receive a $3,000 award. Recipients are eligible for renewable awards for up to three additional academic years (D2-D4) at the same award amount of $3,000. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or have permanent resident status. They must show acceptance to a U.S. dental school accredited by ADA/CODA, or be enrolled in a U.S. dental school accredited by ADA/CODA and a continuing scholarship recipient. Incoming first-year students must have an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher; and continuing dental students (Rising D2-D4) must have a dental school GPA of 3.0 or higher. Applicants must provide evidence of community service, reflecting the ideals of respect and selflessness. Incoming first-year students must submit the following: official undergraduate college or university transcript; letter of acceptance from a U.S. dental school accredited by ADA/COD; professional photo; letter of request for consideration; three letters of recommendation, one from the Dean or Chair of the student's undergraduate degree program, one letter from an undergraduate professor, and one letter from an individual of the student's choice (not from family members or students); and the Photo and Video Release Form. Renewals applicants must submit their official dental school transcript; letter from the SNDA National or Local President confirming current membership status; evidence of continued on-time academic progress, and leadership and community service involvement; professional photo; Curriculum Vita; and two letters of recommendation, one letter from the Dean, Associate Dean of Students or Department Chair and one letter from SNDA Faculty Advisor or Faculty member if no SNDA chapter and/or advisor.
