Description

The Edward Yoshiharu Sakuma & Kay Kubo Sakuma Education Honors Scholarship was established in 2018 to address the shortage of qualified public school teachers in the state of Hawaii. Applicants must be a graduate of a public high school or equivalent in the State of Hawai'i; be committed to teaching in the State of Hawai'i public school system; have demonstrated volunteer and extracurricular activities with leadership roles; and have excellent character and leadership skills. Preference will be given to applicants pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree; those who intend to teach mathematics or science; and to renewal applicants.
