Eligibility

ESA Distinguished Achievement Award in Teaching, with an application deadline in June, offers numerous awards of $500 each.

Description

The purpose of the ESA Distinguished Achievement Award in Teaching is to honor the role of entomological education as a basis for the entire discipline by recognizing an ESA member who is deemed to be the most outstanding educator of the year. It highlights their commitment to excellence in teaching, mentorship, curriculum development, and outreach, making a notable impact on the future generation of entomologists and the broader understanding of insects and their importance in the ecosystem. The nominee must be teaching at the community college or university level, and must have excelled through innovations in developing new courses, programs, and teaching methods. Only nominations from ESA Branches are accepted for the ESA Distinguished Achievement Award in Teaching. Each Branch is limited to one nomination per year. Nominators must provide a CV which includes the Background Information Section, Teaching Section, and Service. Applicants must submit up to two letters of nomination or recommendation from professional colleagues, former students, or current students (not more than one from each). Please visit the award's website or contact the Entomological Society of America for more information.
