Fulbright-Uppsala University Distinguished Scholar Award in American Studies, with an application deadline in September, offers one award in the amount of $6400.

Description

The Fulbright-Uppsala University Distinguished Scholar Award in American Studies offers recipients to teach one introductory course for undergraduates, as well as a more specialized course for senior or graduate students (or both) in the grantee's area of expertise. The Distinguished Scholar will also give an inaugural lecture during the year. Opportunities to give lectures at other Swedish universities and outside Sweden will be available and are encouraged. The Distinguished Scholar may also participate in collaborative research with the department faculty or on their own project. Proposed subject matter must relate to the field of American studies. Interested applicants may contact the Commission with any questions or regarding proposed fields that are not listed. Ph.D. (or other terminal degree) is required. Applicants may be mid-career academics, professionals, or senior academics. Several years of teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level and a solid scholarly publication record are required. Please note that candidates currently residing in Sweden or who have already begun a program in Sweden are not eligible for the Fulbright program with Sweden. An invitation letter should not be sought. There is no language requirement, English is sufficient. The application also requires two recommendations.
