Gary Marx Scholarship, with an application deadline in September, offers numerous awards that vary in amount.

Description

The Gary Marx Scholarship was established by long-time IRE member David Jackson to honor a trusted Chicago Tribune colleague, Gary Marx, and hopefully to inspire the new generation of investigative reporters. Applicants must be U.S.-based college journalism students and early-career journalists (five years post-college graduation). Preference will be given to applicants from Illinois. The applicant's LinkedIn page or link to their resume is required. Students must submit their college transcript. Journalists must submit two clips of their investigative or journalistic work, if applicable. A letter of support from a supervisor or appropriate person to attend the conference is required. The letter should include why the applicant is deserving of a scholarship to receive this training. Please visit the scholarship's website for more information.
