John M. Haniak Scholarship, with an application deadline in February, offers one award in the amount of $1500. Location restrictions exist.Description
The John M. Haniak Scholarship was established in 2003 by the family of John Myron Haniak, who was a life-long dedicated member of ASM International. Applicants must be a Pennsylvania resident and/or must attend a Pennsylvania university to qualify. To be eligible, applicants must be a member of ASM International or a Material Advantage student member. They must have an intended or declared major in metallurgy or materials science engineering. Applicants majoring in related science or engineering disciplines will be considered if they demonstrate a strong academic emphasis and interest in materials science. Applicants must have completed at least 1 year of college. Their university must have an accredited science and engineering program leading to a bachelor's degree. The transcript, recommendation letters, applicant's photo, and resume must be sent separately through email or mail. Two letters of recommendation are required, at least one must be from a professor or employer in the field. Each award is for one year; students must re-apply for consideration the following year. No applicant may receive more than two consecutive scholarship awards. Please visit the scholarship's website or contact the ASM Materials Education Foundation for more information.
