Description

The Ken Yamase Sportsmanship Scholarship Fund was established to honor the memory of Ken Yamase and perpetuate his legacy of fair play, integrity, respect and sportsmanship. The donor requires applicants to attend an accredited not-for-profit institution within the US, including US territories. They must be a senior athlete at Waiakea High School who participated in BIIF (Big Island Interscholastic Federation) sport(s). If there are no applicants who meet this criteria, then the applicant may be a senior athlete from any other public high school except for charter schools, that is part of the BIIF. Applicants must demonstrate good sportsmanship throughout their BIIF participation. They must submit two letters of recommendation; one letter of recommendation must be from the Athletic Director or coach and one must be from a high school teacher or counselor. Please visit the scholarship's website or contact the Hawai'i Community Foundation for more information.
