Description

The Marie A. Calderilla Scholarship was established in 2007 through a generous gift from Marie A. Calderilla, who believed deeply in the importance of education. The purpose of this scholarship is to enable women to pursue courses of study that they would otherwise be unable to follow due to limited financial means. The selection committee looks for academic promise, women who have demonstrated a commitment to completing a degree or certificate program or to increasing their work skills, and personal characteristics such as honesty, good judgment and perseverance. Recipients are eligible for up to five years of funding that includes transfer to a four-year California public college if the student has remaining eligibility and meets the renewal requirements. The scholarship will be awarded to graduating high school seniors, re-entry students, or current community college students planning to attend or attending a college in the San Mateo -County Community College District (Canada College, College of San Mateo and Skyline Community College). Applicants must be pursuing their first undergraduate degree or certificate program. They must be committed to improving their life through education. Applicants may be a United States citizen, eligible noncitizen, and DACA/Dreamer per the FAFSA or Dream Act. Please visit the scholarship's website or contact the Silicon Valley Community Foundation for more information.
