Pauly D'Orlando Memorial Art Scholarship, with an application deadline in February, offers numerous awards that vary in amount. Restricted to those with financial need.

Description

The Pauly D'Orlando Memorial Art Scholarship is funded by a trust set up by the First Unitarian Church of New Orleans. Eligibility requirements for this scholarship are the same as those for the Stanfield Art Scholarship. Art applicants for the Stanfield and D'Orlando scholarships are considered together. The scholarship is for either graduate or undergraduate Unitarian Universalist students preparing for a career in fine arts. The terms of the trust limit eligibility to those in the study of painting, drawing, photography, and/or sculpture. Performing arts majors are not eligible. Applicants must submit their personal financial statement, personal tax information, their parent or spouse financial statement, and their parent or spouse tax information. Applicants must also submit a recommendation letter from a teacher or instructor who is qualified to evaluate their educational experience and the minister or an officer of their church. The applicant's portfolios should include 6-10 samples of what they consider to be their best work. The work should be recent and may be on a DVD or CD. Powerpoint is welcome. On a separate sheet, applicants must also submit a list of works that includes the title, medium, size, date, and a brief explanation of their work. Scholarships are awarded for one year; however students may reapply each year if they wish to continue receiving financial assistance. Please visit the scholarship's website for more information.
