Phoenix Scholarship Fund, with an application deadline in April, offers numerous awards of $5000 each. Location restrictions exist. Restricted to those with financial need.Description
The Phoenix Scholarship Fund is available to past or present members of the Boys and Girls Club of Southwest Washington (Clark County) who plan to continue their education at accredited public or private nonprofit colleges, universities, or vocational/trade schools in the United States. Preference will be given to students pursuing a career in the trades through a vocational training or accredited apprenticeship program including electricians, millwrights, iron workers, pipe fitters, steel and pipe welders, concrete carpenters, and equipment operators. Renewal applicants will also have special consideration or priority. A letter of recommendation from a person associated with either the Boys and Girls Clubs or the Clark County Family YWCA's Independent Living Skills program is preferred. Otherwise, someone who can provide a meaningful personal appeal and speak to the applicant's character, leadership, talents, and academic potential may be submitted. This letter is not required, but is strongly recommended. Please visit the scholarship's website or contact the Community Foundation for Southwest Washington for more information.
