Eligibility
Pisacano Scholars Leadership Program, with an application deadline in January, offers 10 awards of $28000 each.Description
The Pisacano Scholars Leadership Program offers many career development opportunities, as well as scholarship funding, to the future leaders of family medicine. Scholarship funding is offered to honor the achievements of student and resident scholars, with hopes of slightly lowering the growing burden of educational debt as scholars embark on a career in Family Medicine. Applicants entering their fourth year in a U.S. medical school in the fall of 2024 will be considered. Applicants must have declared family medicine as their specialty. Applicants will be judged on commitment to family medicine, leadership qualities, academic performance, including evidence of clinical excellence and application of knowledge to clinical care, and communication skills and service. The Pisacano Leadership Foundation Board requires each applicant to complete an interview with a family physician, which will be arranged by the Board. The maximum scholarship will be awarded for over four years. Applicants must submit official copies of their undergraduate school transcript (and graduate transcript, if applicable) and official copies of their medical school transcript. Applicants must also submit a recommendation from a faculty member in the primary care department at their medical school; a statement from the Dean (or Dean's representative) of their medical school; and a recommendation from a clinician who has observed the applicant's clinical skills. Please visit the scholarship's website for more information.
