Description

The Richason Scholarship will be awarded to a junior or senior with either career or graduate school aspirations. Applicants must submit a resume that includes (among other things) permanent mailing and e-mail addresses, academic history, academic major/minor, cumulative and geography GPAs, honors received, and affirmation of membership in a local GTU chapter. Applicants must also submit two letters of recommendation. One letter should be from the faculty sponsor of the local GTU chapter. This letter should evaluate the applicant's academic achievements and contributions to GTU and department-related activities. The second letter should be from another geography faculty member or department chair or head. This letter should evaluate the applicant's academic achievements and contributions to the department. The evaluation committee reviews each scholarship application with particular attention to the following items: cumulative GPA, geography GPA, letters of recommendation, applicant's contribution to local GTU chapter and the department, as well as the applicant's own appraisal of how the scholarship will help him or her personally and professionally.
