Eligibility

SWE Past Presidents Scholarship, with an application deadline in March, offers one award in the amount of $6500.

Description

The SWE Past Presidents Scholarship was endowed in 2008. Students studying engineering or engineering technology in their sophomore through senior year of undergraduate or graduate students are eligible to apply. SWE scholarships support students pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees in engineering, engineering technology, and fields related to engineering. Applicants must be studying at an ABET-accredited program in engineering, technology or computing in the upcoming academic year. Students who attend an ABET-accredited community college program are also eligible to apply. A SWE membership is not required to apply. However, becoming a SWE member may qualify applicants for additional scholarships and add additional points to the applicant's application review score. The scholarship reviewers focus on extracurricular activities, work history, volunteerism, and interest and involvement in STEM. Applicants must submit one reference, either from someone who can speak to the applicant's academic work, such as a teacher, or someone who knows the applicant well and can speak to their character, such as a coach or supervisor. Please visit the scholarship's website or contact the Society of Women Engineers for more information.
