Eligibility
Tennessee HOPE Scholarship, with an application deadline in September, offers numerous awards of $4500 each. Location restrictions exist. Restricted to those with financial need.Description
The HOPE Scholarship is awarded to entering freshmen who are enrolled at an eligible postsecondary institution within 16 months after graduating from an eligible high school in Tennessee. Only courses leading to a student's eligible program of study (associate or baccalaureate degree program) can be awarded under the HOPE Scholarship program. Entering freshmen must achieve a minimum 21 ACT or a minimum of 1060 SAT, exclusive of the essay and optional subject area battery tests (concordant equivalent score) or overall minimum 3.0 GPA. Home School graduates must have a minimum 21 ACT exclusive of the essay and optional subject area battery tests. Home school GPAs are not considered. If a minimum 21 ACT is not achieved, students may qualify for HOPE by completing at least two dual enrollment classes at an eligible postsecondary institution while enrolled in the home school program totaling at least six semester hours and achieving a minimum 3.0 college GPA in each of the two dual enrollment courses and achieve a minimum 3.0 cumulative college GPA in all dual enrollment courses attempted. GED recipients must have a minimum 21 ACT exclusive of the essay and optional subject area battery tests and qualifying GED score of 170. HiSet recipients must have a minimum 21 ACT exclusive of the essay and optional subject area battery tests and qualifying HiSet score of 15. The Fall Semester deadline is September 1, March 1 for the Spring Semester, and May 1 for the Summer Semester. Please visit the scholarship's website for more information.
