Eligibility

Arne Engebretsen Memorial Scholarship For High School Seniors, with an application deadline in March, offers one award in the amount of $2000.

Description

The Arne Engebretsen Memorial Scholarship was established to honor the man who dedicated his entire teaching career to improving the quality of mathematics education in the state of Wisconsin, the country and the world. He was, in the finest sense, a master teacher. Integral to his work was the use of technology and more specifically, hand-held graphing calculators. WMEF offers a scholarship opportunity for a Wisconsin high school senior who plans to major in mathematics education or having a mathematics concentration at the elementary or middle level. Applicants must submit an official letter of support. The letter should be from a mathematics instructor, preferably one who is a member of the Wisconsin Mathematics Council. Applicants must also submit a student resume that includes their activities, honors received, and organizational memberships that demonstrate their interest in (mathematics) education. Please visit the scholarship's website or contact the Wisconsin Mathematics Education Foundation for more information.
