ASHRAE Freshman Engineering Scholarship, with an application deadline in May, offers numerous awards of $5000 each. Restricted to those with financial need.

Description

The Freshman Engineering Scholarship is awarded for the academic year following the application deadline beginning with the fall semester. Re-applications accepted from former scholarship applicants and recipients who meet current criteria. A one-year scholarship available annually to an undergraduate pre-engineering or engineering student entering their sophomore year of college and pursuing a Bachelor of Science or Engineering degree in a course of study that traditionally has been a preparatory curriculum for the HVAC&R profession. Applicants must have a cumulative college GPA of at least 3.0 and/or a class standing of no less than the top 30 percent. They must be enrolled as a first-year student at a post-secondary educational institution that meets at least one of the following criteria: (A) the institution has an active ASHRAE student branch ASHRAE Student Branches; (B) the program is accredited in the USA by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); (C) or the program is accredited outside the USA by a signatory agency of the Washington Accord Washington Accord or has a signed Memorandum of Understanding with ABET.
