Description

The AWG Mid-Career Excellence Award is given annually in recognition of outstanding mid-career women scientists. Recognizing that contributions vary for different career paths, we invite nominations in one of three categories: academia, government, and industry. Up to three awards, one in each category, may be given each year. Mid-career may be defined as the professional stage demonstrating earned experience and expertise with the expectation of many years remaining to gain experience, advance qualifications and pursue leadership roles. This approximates to 7 to 20 years of professional experience. Nominees will be evaluated based on the impact and breadth of scientific contribution, outstanding community service, and additional criteria for each category. Nominations are solicited from the AWG membership and the geoscience community at large. To nominate an individual, a letter summarizing the nominee's significant contributions to Earth and space science, impact of mentoring and community service, and record of achievement in the nomination category must be submitted. A minimum of two letters of support, with a maximum of five letters are also required. Nominations and support letters are welcome from non-AWG members. Please visit the award's website or contact the Association for Women Geoscientists (AWG) for more information.
