Barbara A. Horwitz and John M. Horowitz Undergraduate Research Awards, with an application deadline in December, offers numerous awards of $400 each.

Description

The Barbara A. Horwitz and John M. Horowitz Undergraduate Research Awards are presented annually to undergraduate students who are presenting their research at the American Physiology Summit. There are two types of the award. The Outstanding Undergraduate Abstract Awards, which consists of $100 honorarium, a one-year complimentary APS membership at the undergraduate level, and an award certificate. The Excellence in Undergraduate Research Awards, which consists of $400 honorarium, an award certificate, with the highest ranking awardee receiving an additional $250. The applicant must be enrolled as an undergraduate student at the time of the abstract submission to the American Physiology Summit. They must be the first author on the submitted abstract. Applicants must also be working with an APS member in good standing. The applications package includes the PDF copy of the abstract submitted; the personal statement written by the candidate; and one letter of recommendation from the research advisor that indicates the applicant played a significant role in the research (and is deserving of first-authorship), has an understanding of the significance of the research and has some interest in a biomedical and/or physiology-related career.
