Church at the Grove Educational Scholarship Fund, with an application deadline in April, offers 2 awards of $1500 each. Location restrictions exist. Restricted to those with financial need.Description
The Church at the Grove Educational Scholarship Fund is available to Christian young adults from Southwest Washington and the Portland, Oregon metro area. The scholarship will be awarded to support higher and/or vocational educational opportunities for Christian young adults, primarily (but exclusivity is not required) for members of Church at the Grove in Vancouver, WA (previously named Walnut Grove Community Church). Scholarship awards may be renewed for up to four years of college. Applicants must reside or have primary residential status within eligible Washington State Counties or Oregon State Counties. Applicants must also be active members of Church of the Grove, or of a church or religious organization whose primary doctrines are consistent with those established by Church of the Grove. Applicants should be involved with its programs, such as a youth group, or the church's ministry such as children's education ministry, ushering, greeting, mission trips, participation on the worship team or some similar activity. Applicants must have graduated, or will graduate from a certified high school or commensurate GED program or equivalent education certification. They must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 or GED equivalency score of at least 110 percent of the minimum passing score. Applicants must exemplify Christian character. Graduate school applicants may be considered, however preference will be given to applicants seeking undergraduate or vocational skills training. High school seniors may apply. Applicants must submit one letter of recommendation from a pastoral or ministerial leader who has personal knowledge of their theological philosophy and activities. Letters from immediate or extended family members will not be accepted.
