Description

The Edward Yoshiharu Sakuma & Kay Kubo Sakuma Early Childhood Education Scholarship was established in 2018. The purpose of this fund is to increase the number of public school teachers by providing scholarships to undergraduate students. Preference will be given to students who were awarded in the immediate prior year if they continue to meet the eligibility requirements and are in good academic standing. Applicants must intend to teach in the public school system or equivalent in the state of Hawai'i. The donor also requires applicants to pursue an associate or bachelor's degree. Preference will also be given in the following order of priority: attend Leeward Community College or University of Hawaii - West Oahu; pursue a degree in early childhood education; and/or students who have graduated from a public high school or equivalent in the State of Hawai'i. Please visit the scholarship's website or contact the Hawai'i Community Foundation for more information.
