George A. Roberts Scholarships, with an application deadline in February, offers 7 awards of $6000 each. Restricted to those with financial need.

Description

The George A. Roberts Scholarship was established in 1995 through a generous contribution by Dr. George A. Roberts, past president of ASM and retired CEO of Teledyne, as an expression of his commitment to education and the materials science and engineering community. Applicants must be a member of ASM International or Material Advantage student member. They must have an intended or declared major in metallurgy or materials science engineering. Applicants majoring in related science or engineering disciplines will be considered if they demonstrate a strong academic emphasis and interest in materials science. Applicants must have completed at least 1 year of college. The university must have an accredited science and engineering program leading to a bachelor's degree. The transcript, recommendation letters, photo, and resume must be submitted separately through mail or email to the ASM Materials Education Foundation. Two letters of recommendation are required, at least one must be from a professor or co-op/internship or work study manager. Each award is for one year; students must re-apply for consideration the following year. No applicant may receive more than two consecutive scholarship awards.
