Harden Scholarship for First Year Students offers 15 awards that vary in amount.

Description

The Harden Scholarship is for high school students who will be graduating in 2026 and entering college in Fall 2026. Harden Scholarship recipients are also automatically admitted to the NMU Honors Program. Students may receive the Harden Scholarship if they participate in the Presidential Scholars Competition, which is designed for students to compete for a limited number of "full-ride" scholarships. Students may participate in the scholarship competition if they have applied and been admitted as a degree-seeking student to NMU for Fall 2026 by the date of the competition for which they will be participating. To apply for the scholarship competition, students must have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.50. If a student is in an early college credit program, they are eligible to compete if they are in their final year of high school, have a high school GPA of 3.5, and will be entering college as a degree-seeking student the following year. There will be multiple in-person competition dates. For the November 2-3, 2025, competition, the registration deadline is October 20. For the November 9-10, 2025 competition, the registration deadline is October 27. For the virtual competition on November 16-17, 2025, the registration deadline is November 3.
