Harold Powers World Travel Fund, with an application deadline in April, offers one award in the amount of $2500.

Description

The Harold Powers World Travel Fund honors the polymathic scholar and distinguished AMS member, Harold Powers, whose publications have ranged from music and language to medieval mode to Indian music to Puccini and whose interests were wider still, but always with the communicative aspects of music at their base. The award is to be given annually to one or more doctoral students at or Ph.D. graduates of North American universities to conduct doctoral or post-doctoral musicological research in all fields of musical scholarship and throughout the world. If they seek to conduct research for their dissertation, they must have completed all other requirements for the Ph.D. If they seek to conduct post-doctoral research, they should have completed the Ph.D. within the past five years. Preference will be given to applicants whose home institutions do not offer financial support for musicological research. Aside from the application and research information, one letter of support to be submitted by a scholar familiar with the applicant's work is also required.
