Henry & Chiyo Kuwahara Memorial Scholarship, with an application deadline in March, offers numerous awards that vary in amount.

Description

The Henry & Chiyo Kuwahara Memorial Scholarship was established by the estate of the late Henry and Chiyo Kuwahara. Due to the Kuwaharas' strong belief in youth and the value of education, their estate funds a number of JACL scholarships. This scholarship will be awarded to entering freshman, undergraduate, and graduate students. Entering freshman applicants must be high school seniors. Every applicant must be an active National JACL member. JACL membership is open to everyone of any ethnic background. Applicants must be planning to attend a college, university, trade school, business school, or any other institution of higher learning within the United States. Students deferring enrollment will not qualify for the scholarship program. Applicants must submit one letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, school administrator, employer, coach, or community leader. The deadline for entering freshman students is March 3, 2025; and the deadline for undergraduate and graduate students is April 4, 2025. There are different application links for entering freshman, undergraduate, and graduate students. Please visit the scholarship's website or contact the Japanese American Citizens League for more information.
