Description

The Hokulani Hawaii Fund was established in 2012 by Estelle M. Kelley, who felt fortunate to be part of a family that valued education through quality institutions, life experience, and global travel that contributed to lifelong learning and encouraged openness to new experiences. She created this scholarship to support those with less means to experience the life gift of an education marked by openness, critical inquiry, and a strong development of emotional values. This scholarship gives preference to small private institutions with strong core liberal arts and science curriculums. The donor requires applicants to demonstrate financial need, with a preference for students from middle income families. Applicants must attend a private accredited college or university on the US mainland with undergraduate population between 1,000-5,000 students; strong core curriculum that includes liberal arts and sciences; undergraduate professional schools that require core liberal arts curriculum accepted; and encourages global studies. Applicants must also be a graduate of a public or private high school in Hawaii within the last three years. New applicants must have a GPA between 2.9 - 3.4. Preference will be given to renewal applicants; students who are the first generation in their family to attend college; students who attended at least the last two years at a Hawaii high school, excludes GED and home schooled students. Please visit the scholarship's website or contact the Hawai'i Community Foundation for more information.
