Jack R. Gilstrap Scholarship

Description

The American Public Transportation Foundation will award scholarships, including the Jack R. Gilstrap Scholarship, to deserving students interested in the transit field. Applicants should demonstrate a continued interest in a career in the public transportation industry, high academic achievement, and need for financial assistance. Applicants must be college students or those seeking advanced degrees. They must be enrolled in a fully accredited institution, and demonstrate a strong interest in entering the public transportation industry. All returning applicants must be sponsored by a member organization of the American Public Transportation Association (APTA). Any member may serve as a sponsor. First-time applicants are not required to obtain a sponsor. New applicants must submit two letters of recommendation and renewing scholars must submit one letter instead. Letters of recommendation should address the applicant's commitment, demonstrated interest, and career goals in public transportation. Recommendations must not come from relatives.
