Description

The James R. Goheen Scholarship will be awarded to qualified high school seniors to attend post-secondary programs. Applicants must be high school seniors preparing to graduate from one of the high schools within Unified District No. 500 in Kansas City, KS. Each applicant who meets the requirements will be considered for an award based upon the Advisory Committee's assessment of the following factors: Leadership potential; School and community involvement; Financial need will be considered but will not be the determining factor; Academic performance will be considered but not the determining factor. Applicants must submit one letter of recommendation from one of their high school teachers, counselor or employer. The letter must describe the applicant's strengths and weaknesses.
