Description

The Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program enables mid-career professionals from 160 developing countries and Japan to complete graduate degrees in development-related fields. The JJ/WBGSP is open to citizens of certain developing countries with relevant professional experience and a history of supporting their countries' development efforts who are applying to a master's degree program in a development-related topic. Applicants must be a national of a World Bank member country. They must not be a dual citizen of any developed country. Applicants must also hold a bachelor's degree earned at least three years before the date of the application deadline. They must be employed in development-related work in a paid full-time position at the time of submitting the scholarship application. They must have at least three years of paid development-related employment since earning a bachelor's degree and acquired within the past six years from the date of the application deadline. On or before the scholarship application deadline date, the applicant must have been admitted unconditionally (except for funding) for the upcoming academic year to at least one of the JJ/WBGSP Participating Programs and located outside of the applicant's country of citizenship and country of residence. The link to the JJ/WBGSP application form will only be communicated to candidates shortlisted as eligible JJ/WBGSP applicants by participating universities. Potential candidates are invited to reach out to the university offering the JJ/WBGSP participating master program they are targeting to find out if they meet this requirement. Two recommendation letters from people who have direct knowledge of the applicant's professional work experience must be submitted. A CV using the specific format set by the sponsor is also required. The first application window will be open from January 15 to February 29, 2024. The second application window will be open from March 25 to May 24, 2024.
