Description

The Ka'iulani Home for Girls originally provided housing for young women of Hawaiian ancestry. Kamehameha Schools used the building from 1950 to 1962 to board female students attending the schools. When the home became so old it could not be repaired, it was demolished and the property sold. The Ka'iulani Home for Girls Trust was established in 1963 and it continues the original mission of supporting Hawaiian females. The donor requires applicants to be students of Hawaiian ancestry. Applicants must attend an accredited, two- or four-year, not-for-profit college or university. They must demonstrate good moral character. Preference is for recipients who were awarded in the immediate prior year. Please visit the scholarship's website or contact the Hawai'i Community Foundation for more information.
