Description

The Karolyn Kolb Martinez "Excellence in Nursing" Memorial Scholarship awards $2,500 to support students committed to a nursing career. Eligible applicants include graduating high school seniors from ten specified counties in Texas, as well as current nursing students enrolled at Schreiner University or Alamo Colleges. Candidates must be pursuing an Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing, or be enrolled in an LVN or RN program. Selection prioritizes academic performance, honors, and financial need. Applicants must submit a short essay related to nursing, and those reapplying, permitted for up to three consecutive years with a minimum 2.5 GPA, must include a transcript and letter of continued qualification. Recipients must be accepted into a nursing program before the award is finalized; awards not accepted by December 31st of the award year will be forfeited.
