Description

King Olav V of Norway gave his permission to the Sons of Norway Foundation to use his name in establishing a fund to be known as the "King Olav V Norwegian-American Heritage Fund." Its purpose is to fund activities in which the American and Norwegian heritages are explored, studied and shared by qualified scholarship recipients. American citizens and Norwegian citizens may apply. American citizens may either pursue Norwegian Studies in the US, or study in Norway in any field of study; and Norwegian citizens must pursue their students in the United States. American undergraduate or graduate students must provide proof of enrollment in an accredited educational institution in Norway or a Scandinavian Studies program in the United States; and Norwegian students must provide proof of enrollment in an accredited educational institution in the United States. If studying in the US, American citizens must pursue a field of study that must be Scandinavian Studies. If studying in Norway, any field of study is acceptable. For Norwegian citizens, any field of study is acceptable. American citizens must be undergraduate, graduate or folk school students. Norwegian citizens must be undergraduate or graduate students. All applicants must have a keen and sincere interest in Norwegian heritage and culture. Two letters of recommendation that address the applicant's character and abilities are required.
