Description

The Madeline Pickett (Halbert) Cogswell Nursing Scholarship will be awarded to students who are accepted or enrolled in an accredited school of nursing. Applicants must be a DAR member, a descendant of a DAR member, or eligible for membership in DAR. The cited DAR member's name and national membership number must appear included in the application. A letter of acceptance into the nursing program or the transcript noting the applicant is enrolled in the nursing program must be included with the application. At least two, but not more than four letters of recommendation must be submitted by the deadline. Recommendations should convey the applicant's ability, work habits, integrity, character, potential, and volunteer activities. Individuals providing recommendations may include teachers, counselors, instructors, employers, ministers, or personal or professional references (no family members). Applicants must also submit a copy of their proof of United States citizenship: birth certificate, naturalization papers, or information page of United States Passport must be included. If using a passport as proof of citizenship, applicants must cover their photograph. Submitting an expired passport or picture of themselves will result in the application being disqualified.
