Maynard and Ferne Brownell Family Scholarship, with an application deadline in March, offers one award in the amount of $750. Restricted to those with financial need.

Description

Established by the family of Maynard and Ferne Brownell, the Maynard and Ferne Brownell Family Scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior from Beacon High School, John Jay High School or Roy C. Ketcham High School. The scholarship shall be applied to tuition costs at accredited colleges or universities for a period not to exceed four years. Candidates should have a strong academic record, strong participation in sports activities and/or community service and demonstrate financial need. Applicants must submit two current letters of recommendation from teachers or guidance counselors, clergy or persons other than family members who are familiar with the applicant's skills and abilities. These letters must have been written within the last six months. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years. In order to continue receiving this scholarship in subsequent years, students must provide the Foundation with a copy of their school transcript to verify their eligibility to continue with the scholarship and a copy of their tuition bill for the fall semester to verify their continued attendance at their college.
