Description

The OREF/John W. Brown Early-Stage Investigator Enabling Technologies in Musculoskeletal Care Research Grant solicits investigator-initiated research proposals which will address the use of enabling technologies in musculoskeletal health care. This research grant honors the former chief executive officer of Stryker, John W. Brown, whose dedication to research, innovation and contributions to orthopaedics have benefited millions of patients. Preference will be given to proposals studying innovative technologies with expected clinical benefits. The PI must be an early-stage investigator defined as a researcher who has completed their terminal research degree or post-graduate clinical training within the past 10 years and has not previously competed successfully for an R01 National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant or its equivalent (e.g., VA, DOD, and NSF) in the role of PI. Early-Stage investigators who have demonstrated a sustained interest in research and excellence in their training are encouraged to apply. Applications may be submitted by domestic non-profit, public and private institutions of higher education, such as hospitals, medical schools, universities, and colleges. Multidisciplinary research activity is strongly encouraged. An orthopaedic surgeon is required to be part of the research project as PI, co-PI, co-I or MPI. The LOI must be submitted on August 8, 2025 and the proposal must be submitted on October 14, 2025. Please visit the award's website for more information.
