Description

The Orel & Marie Winjum Memorial Scholarship offers up to $2,000 to support undergraduate study in the United States for U.S. citizens aged 17 or older. Open to students in any field, the award is specifically intended for those with Norwegian and/or German heritage who have a minimum GPA of 2.5. Sons of Norway membership is not required, and applicants do not need prior college credit or proof of enrollment at the time of application. Selection is based on academic potential, financial need, and a personal essay that explores educational goals, community involvement, and alignment with the Foundation's core values. Required materials include a short autobiography, transcripts, two letters of recommendation, and documentation of educational expenses. The scholarship is awarded for one academic year and does not cover costs from previous terms such as room, board, or travel.
