Description

The Practice Grant: Implementing Institutional Self-Care Award provides financial support to initiate and integrate a self-care program within an institution. The intent is to help institutions promote and encourage diverse models of Holistic Nursing activities focused on self-care; the models are designed to provide nurses an opportunity to practice Holistic Nursing and extend their self-care influence and practices to other nurses and/or patients and families. The program must: (1) Strengthen the recognition and support for holistic principles through the implementation of specific ongoing holistic well-being activities. (2) Develop opportunities for nurses to move deeper into the Holistic Nursing specialty by extending their influence and practices to other nurses and/or patients and families (3) Develop opportunities for Holistic Nurses to extend their influence by supporting colleagues and others in a holistic well-being activity. (4) Look at well-being from a fresh holistic perspective that fits your culture. The grant director must: (1) Be Holistic Nursing certified (HN-BC, HNB-BC, AHN-BC). (2) Be an active AHNA member. (3) Be currently employed within the institution where the program will be implemented. (4) Agree to present the grant implementation activities summary/outline in a Beginnings magazine article and/or present poster/workshop at the annual AHNA conference. One letter of support must be submitted from an Institutional Executive showing intent and support that includes how this well-being activity fits into the institutional mission and philosophy, how this program will be integrated moving forward, and how the activity will be sustained upon completion of the grant.
