Description

The Sara Thompson Magical Mermaid Scholarship offers multiple awards ranging from $500 to $5,000 in honor of Sara Thompson, a vibrant high femme, devoted community advocate, and cherished friend. Funded by her family, friends, and community members, the scholarship supports individuals who self-identify as LGBTQ+ and either attend a Colorado high school, are enrolled or admitted to a Colorado institution for higher education, or have lived in Colorado for at least two years. Awards may be used for higher education expenses or personal development projects that pursue a specific goal, produce a tangible outcome, or enhance creative, academic, or professional skills. Applicants must submit short answer responses outlining their plans and goals, essays, and at least one letter of recommendation.
