Description

The Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society is pleased to administer the Snyder, Union and Northumberland Counties Medical Student Scholarship for students attending an accredited allopathic or osteopathic medical school as a second- or third-year student. This award is made possible by contributions received from Marjorie Poff Gillespy, MD, one of the first female physicians from the "SUN" County region. Applicants must be a Pennsylvania resident for at least 12 months prior to registering as a medical student, not including time spent attending an undergraduate or graduate school. Preference will be given to residents of Snyder, Union, or Northumberland county in the state of Pennsylvania. Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited allopathic or osteopathic Pennsylvania medical school as a second-, third- or fourth-year student. Applicants must submit two reference letters, from persons other than family members, documenting the applicant's integrity, interpersonal skills, and potential as a future physician. Both reference letters must be from either a medical school professor or physician. Please visit the scholarship's website or contact the Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society for more information.
