The James Alan Cox Foundation Scholarships For High School Students, with an application deadline in November, offers 5 awards that vary in amount. Restricted to those with financial need.

Description

The James Alan Cox Foundation Scholarships For High School Students will award Digital SLR Cameras to high school students. High school applicants should only submit still photographs. The video awards are for college and graduate students only. High school students applying for these scholarships must have completed one year at an accredited high school (student must therefore be a sophomore or older) and should have taken at least one photography or related art class. The applicant's school must be in the United States. U.S. citizens attending U.S. government schools outside of the U.S. may apply. Scholarships will be awarded to those students whose work "tells a story." This is a fairly broad topic and may include a variety of subject matter and approaches (breaking news, sporting events, etc.). Please keep in mind that, for the still photography submissions, the sponsor is not looking for "art" photography. The focus of the entries must be photojournalism. Applicants must submit five digital images for the still photography category. Two letters of reference are also required. Please visit the scholarship's website for more information.
