The Valerie E. Yahn Endowment Scholarship, with an application deadline in February, offers numerous awards of $1000 each. Location restrictions exist.Description
The Valerie E. Yahn Endowment Scholarship will be awarded to a deserving graduating high school senior intending to pursue a nursing (BSN) degree at a college or university. Applicants must have attended a New Jersey high school and have been a resident of one of the five eligible counties. Preference will be given to applicants who have never been awarded the scholarship in the past. Applicants must demonstrate academic excellence by being in the upper half of their graduating high school class; have passion for nursing through demonstrated nursing commitment/caring for others and participation in civic, community, and/or volunteer activities; and strength of character by being a positive and compassionate leader or classmate with demonstrated leadership qualities. Two letters of recommendation from high school teachers, administrators, counselors, employers, or individuals with significant knowledge of applicant's experience, character, and involvement must be submitted. Applications may be submitted through mail or fax, but email is preferred. Please visit the award's website or contact the New Jersey State Nurses Association for more information.
