Description

The Wings for Val Foundation honors the life and legacy of Navy Lieutenant Valerie "Val" Delaney, through a mission to support women in aviation and to inspire the next generation of female leaders. The Wings for Val Foundation Lieutenant Valerie Cappelaere Delaney Memorial Scholarship honors Val's memory and is open to a female WAI member from any country. It will be awarded to an individual pursuing a private fixed wing pilot license or any subsequent flight ratings through commercial pilot. Applicants with FAA Class 1-3 Medicals are preferred; but Basic Medical will be considered. Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the winner's flight school of choice and must be used within a year of receiving the award. All applicants must be current WAI members with an expiration date of March 30, 2026 or later. Applicants must also submit two letters of recommendation. Letters should not be from family members.
