Wings Over America Scholarship Foundation Scholarships, with an application deadline in February, offers numerous awards of $5000 each.Description
Wings Over America Scholarship Foundation annually sponsors scholarships to further the postsecondary education of Navy dependents from the aviation community. Some of the scholarships are renewable. Scholarships may be used for trade school certification, community college or four-year university/college undergraduate study. Recipients are selected on the basis of scholastic merit, community service, extra-curricular activities and character. Applicants may be dependent children and spouses of active duty, retired, honorably discharged, or deceased Enlisted or Officer U. S. Navy personnel who serve or have served in U. S. Navy Aviation. High school senior students may apply. Applicants may also be any spouse or child (natural born, adopted or stepchild) of a member of the U.S. Navy who died while on active duty serving within a U.S. Navy aviation command may qualify regardless of length of service of the deceased sponsor. The applicant's sponsor must have served at least eight years of active duty; or ADSD (Active Duty Special Duty) such as a reservist who has been called upon to work full-time for a specified amount of time in an aviation or subordinate command; or a combination of both within the U.S. Navy aviation community. Pre-Qualification opens on October 1. The deadline for Pre-Qualification is on February 1. The final deadline for application is on March 1.
