WIT Celebrating Women in Toxicology Award (Postdoctoral), with an application deadline in December, offers numerous awards that vary in amount.Description
The WIT Celebrating Women in Toxicology Award was inspired by the generosity of Ms. Anne Wolven Garrett, one of the early leaders in the field of toxicology. The initial seed money was donated by Ms. Wolven Garrett's estate and this is now one of the endowed WIT awards. As a tribute to Ms. Wolven Garrett and all past and future female leaders of SOT, the CWIT award will recognize and encourage women who are in the early stages of developing their careers in the field of toxicology. The award is selected based on scientific merit and outstanding demonstration of leadership and service to the scientific/toxicology community and given to female WIT member(s) who are post-doctoral fellows engaged in research activities in the field of toxicology (or related field). Applicants must be a current postdoctoral fellow in academia, industry, or government in the discipline of toxicology (or closely related discipline). They must be a postdoctoral member of WIT SIG and SOT at application deadline. All applications should detail the applicant's demonstrated leadership and service in the field of toxicology or closely related discipline. Applicants must submit two letters of recommendation describing their leadership and service to the scientific/toxicology community. In addition to some mention of scientific achievement, letters should focus on recognition of the student's demonstration of leadership and service in toxicology and/or their community. One of these letters must be from a Full, Associate, or Emeritus SOT member. A curriculum vitae of the applicant that includes specific descriptions of the applicant's scientific and leadership qualifications is also required. Please visit the award's website or contact the Society of Toxicology for more information.
