The Dr. Alan J. Dessen, MD Memorial Scholarship Fund, is a scholarship memorial fund for Dr. Alan J. Dessen, who served as a staff member of Maryvale Hospital Medical Center (now Abrazo Maryvale Campus) for 38 years, serving as Chief of Medicine and on the Medical Executive Board for over 13 years. He was board certified in both Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease. Applicants must be graduating seniors from Maryvale, Carl Hayden, Western School of Science and Technology, Trevor G. Browne, or Alhambra high school. They must pursue medicine, nursing, dental hygienist, dentistry, kinesiology/exercise science or physical therapy.
